Kokai JP 52041667 31 Mar 1977 Showa, 5 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: C08L071-04. APPLICATION: JP 75-117141 30 Sep 1975. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 36 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) Melamine [108-78-1], ammeline [645-92-1], and acetoguanamine [542-02-9] were used as fireproofing agents for poly[(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) oxide] (I) [24938-67-8] modified with butadiene-styrene copolymer [9003-55-8]. Thus, a fire-resistant compn. comprised 7% melamine and :41 I-butadiene-styrene.

CLASS: IC: C08F008-00. APPLICATION: JP 76-4021 19 Jan 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) The reaction products of glyoxal [107-22-2] with melamine [108-78-1], acetoguanamine [542-02-9], 6-amino-2,4-dimethyl-s-triazine [1853-90-3], benzoguanamine [91-76-9], or 4,6-diamino-2-hydroxy-s-triazine [645-92-1] were added to polymers for coatings, adhesives, and leather substitutes to improve phys. properties. Thus, a soln. of Me methacrylate 17, Bu acrylate 58, acrylic acid 10, b-hydroxyethyl methacrylate 10, iso-PrOH 60, and Bz2O2 1.5 parts was heated at reflux for 6 h, mixed with Et3N 14, water 80, and Cellosolve acetate 10 parts, mixed (100 parts) with 30 parts glyoxal-melamine reaction product (prepd. by mixing 145 g 40% aq. glyoxal with 50% aq. KOH to pH 6.2, mixing with 15.8 g melamine, heating at 40° for 3 h, and dilg. with water to 40% nonvolatiles), 100 parts rutile, and water, sprayed on soft steel, allowed to stand for 1 h, and baked at 150° for 30 min to form a copolymer [34728-88-6] coating.
