The prepns. have no adverse effect on hair. E.g., a 1st soln. consists of (A) NaBrO3 7.0 and deionized H2O 82.0 parts, and (B) ammonium thioglycolate [5421-46-5] 6.0 and propylene glycol 5.0 parts.

NH3 soln. 2.0, and propylene glycol 3.0 parts, and B soln. contains KBrO3 1.0 and ion-exchanged H2O 79.0 parts.
