The IUPAC name of Calcein Blue is 2-[carboxymethyl-[(7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxochromen-8-yl)methyl]amino]acetic acid . With the CAS registry number 54375-47-2, it is also named as 2,2'-{[(7-Hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-8-yl)methyl]imino}diacetic acid ; 4-Methylumbelliferone-8-methyleneiminodiacetic acid ; Glycine, N-(carboxymethyl)-N-[(7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-8-yl)methyl]- . The product belongs to analytical chemistry, chelating reagents, complexones and photometric reagents (complexone). This product should be sealed in dry place.
The maximum absorption wavelength of Calcein Blue is 360nm. It is used as indicator for the complexometric titration. It also used as metal fluorescent color indicator taht EDTA titrates calcium under high pH and titrates copper, nickel and cobalt under low pH. Calcein Blue may be used for the chelatometric determination of metal ions which form highly coloured complexes with chelatometric reagents. And Calcein Blue can be used as fluorescent markers for bone. There is another use of Calcein Blue which is used as fine chemicals raw material and pharmaceutical intermediate.
