DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) In in vitro expts. the optical d. of an Evan's blue [314-13-6] dye soln. decreased with increasing concns. of Na hydroxybutyrate [502-85-2] (0.22-2.22 mg%). With droperidol (I) [548-73-2] and fentanyl [437-38-7] the optical d.In this article, certain chemicals are used. Some of their cas registry numbers are 71-27-2 and 314-13-6 increased with increasing concns. (0.225-0.575 and 0.0045-0.0115 mg%, resp.). Lysthenon [71-27-2] (4.5-8.5 mg%) and seduxen [439-14-5] (0.1-0.6 mg%) also increased optical d. with increasing concns., but the extent of the effect was much smaller than with droperidol or fentanyl. In all the above cases, the length of incubation (5-30 min) had little effect on the extent of the result. A mixt. of droperidol, fentanyl, listhenon, and seduxen increased the optical d. of the dye soln. between 10 and 15 min of incubation; the increase between 25 and 30 min was more gradual. When various concns. of Na hydroxybutyrate were added in the presence of the neuroanaleptic mixt. the optical d. was decreased between 10 and 20 min of incubation and increased between 25 and 30 min. Thus, the presence of any of these compds. alone or together in a patient's blood could affect the accuracy of measuring circulating blood vol. by the Evans blue method. .
