In a patient with mild hypertension, Teronac (mazindol) (I) [22232-71-9]
reversed the antihypertensive effects of bethanidine [55-73-2]. I also
reversed the side-effects of bethanidine. Thus, I should not be given to
hypertensive patients taking adrenergic blocking agents.

The addn. of bethanidine (I) [55-73-2] (10 mM) to the incubation
medium (Tyrode soln.) of guinea pig cardiac papillary muscle
prolonged the duration of the action potential and increased
Ca2+-dependent potentials in the presence of higher K+ concns. (25
mM). I may enhance the slow inward current via b-receptor.
