DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Iodosol [552-22-7] foam consists of I, KI, and a mixt. of vehicles and propellents and is the 1st nonantibiotic drug in this series in spray foam. The main advantage is its easy application and distribution of foam on the entire uterine wall compared with the application of solns. In preclin. trials, Iodosol was tested in 80 cows on 5 different farms with regard to local tolerance and therapeutic effect on chronic postpuerperal diseases of the uterus. Of the treated cows, 71.7% were cured and the prepn. was well tolerated without undesirable side effects or painful reactions.

I, KI and a mixt. of vehicles and propellants in a spray form was tested in 133 cows with uterine inflammation of which 102 (76.6%) became pregnant. The period between the last administration and the onset of pregnancy was 40 days. Apparently, the treated animals became reproductive in a short time.
