- Influence of the cation on the hydrotropic activity of benzoate salts
- Influence of the cation on the hydrotropic activity of benzoate salts. El-Khordagui, L. K.; Saleh, A. M. (Fac. Pharm., Univ. Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt). S.T.P. Pharma, 20-21, 918-22 (English) 1986. CODEN: STPPEF. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The effect of the type of cation on the hydrotropic activity of benzoates, KOBz [582-25-2], NaOBz [532-32-1], LiOBz [553-54-8], and NH4OBz [1863-63-4] was detd. The parameters for comparison were the hydrotropic index, derived from solubilization data of riboflavin [83-88-5] used as a model substrate, and the solubilization of H2O in BuOH [71-36-3]. The hemolytic activity and gelling of gelatin soln. were also used as parameters involving the activity of hydrotropes in macromol. systems. 582-25-2 and 83-88-5 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. The order of effect of metal ions was generally parallel to the order of electropositivity and weakness of hydration (K+ > Na+ > Li+), and consequently their tendency to form ion pairs, favoring the aggregation of benzoate mols. In macromol. systems, however, NH4+ ions exerted specific effects related to certain inherent properties of these ions and their salts. .
- Carboxyl group-containing acrylic resin and its use
- Carboxyl group-containing acrylic resin and its use. Morlock, Gerhard; Hoelle, Hans Joachim (Deutsche Gold- und Silber-Scheideanstalt vorm. Roessler, Ger.). Ger. Offen. DE 2641107 16 Mar 1978, 28 pp. (German). (Germany). CODEN: GWXXBX. CLASS: IC: C08F220-14. APPLICATION: DE 76-2641107 13 Sep 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Carboxy group-contg. acrylic resins are prepd. which contain LiCl, AcONa [127-09-3], KOH, BzOLi [553-54-8], or a similar salt. The salt is a catalysts for the hardening of mixts. of the acrylic resins and epoxy resins used as powder coating compn., giving coatings with good mech. properties and chem. resistance. Thus, a mixt. of Me methacrylate 59, Bu acrylate 30, acrylic acid 11, HSCH2CO2H 2.5, and LiCl 0.3 part was polymd., and equal parts of the copolymer [26300-51-6] and an epoxy resin were mixed, applied to steel as a powder coating compn., and hardened at 200° to prep. a nonyellowing coating.
