Fabrics treated with THPS-urea [57-13-6]-trimethylolmelamine (TMM) with added polyacrylate either in a 1- or 2-step process had the best overall phys. properties. Fabrics treated with THPS-urea-TMM-polyacrylate had higher wrinkle recovery angles, moderate durable press ratings, and acceptable strength and abrasion resistance with only a slight change in hand. Treatments contg. polyacrylates with the lowest glass temps. produced fabrics with the highest abrasion resistance, tearing strength, and wrinkle recovery. Flame retardancy of the treated fabrics was not adversely affected by the polyacrylates.
