Yakubutsu, Seishin, Kodo, 4(1), 97-8 (Japanese) 1984. CODEN: YSKODB. ISSN: 0285-5313. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) The distribution of gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) [80043-53-4] was studied in rat brain by immunohistochem. enzymic antibody method. Markedly high GRP immunoactivity was obsd. in prefrontal cortex (III, V), claustrum, diagonal bands of Broca, paraventricular nucleus, suprachiasmatic nucleus, red nucleus, mesencephalic nucleus of the trigeminal nerve, nucleus of the oculomotor nerve, nucleus of the hypoglossal nerve, and Purkinje's corpuscles. GRP immunoactivity of the paraventricular nucleus and suprachiasmatic nucleus disappeared on treatment with normal rabbit serum antigen; immunoactivity also decreased by 50% on treatment with porcine GRP 21-27 [55749-98-9] antibody.
Effects of porcine gastrin releasing peptide (pGRP) and its related peptides on the release of gastro-entero-pancreatic hormones in dogs

Nippon Shokakibyo Gakkai Zasshi, 80(7), 1432-9 (Japanese) 1983. CODEN: NIPAA4. ISSN: 0369-4259. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) I.v. bolus injection of porcine gastrin-releasing peptide (pGRP) [74815-57-9] (60 pmol/kg) increased the concn. of immunoreactive gastrin [9002-76-0] in blood serum and simultaneously elevated gut glucagon-like immunoreactivity [59536-67-3] and immunoreactive insulin [9004-10-8] concns. The initial gastrin secretory response was obsd. after infusion of 14-27-pGRP [81608-29-9], 18-27-pGRP [81608-30-2], and 19-27-pGRP [81608-32-4], however, the prolonged effect of pGRP was almost completely absent with these shortened peptides. Gastrin-releasing activity was greatly diminished with 20-27-pGRP [81608-33-5] and was not obsd. after infusion of 21-27-pGRP [55749-98-9]. Thus, the 20-27-pGRP sequence is required for the gastrin-releasing activity of pGRP. 81608-33-5 and 81608-30-2 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. Gastrin-releasing activity was not obsd. with 1-13-pGRP [81608-28-8] but this fragment seemed necessary for the full biol. activity of pGRP. .
