DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) B. canis Infection in splenectomized dogs was controlled with berenil [908-54-3] (10 mg/kg i.m.) and with imiezol [55750-06-6] (6 mg/kg). Berenil was free from side effects; imiezol caused dyspnea and salivation in some dogs and fatal convulsions in one case.
- Influence of Escherichia coli endotoxin-induced fever on pharmacokinetics of imidocarb in dogs and goats
- Influence of Escherichia coli endotoxin-induced fever on pharmacokinetics of imidocarb in dogs and goats. Abdullah, A. Salam; Baggot, J. Desmond (Dep. Vet. Med. Anim. Sci., Univ. Pertanian, Malay.). Am. J. Vet. Res., 45(12), 2645-8 (English) 1984. CODEN: AJVRAH. ISSN: 0002-9645. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The pharmacokinetics of imidocarb dipropionate [55750-06-6], administered as an i.v. bolus dose (4 mg/kg), was studied in normal and E. coli endotoxin-induced febrile dogs and goats. In the febrile group, the drug was administered 1 h after injection of the endotoxin. Fever significantly decreased the distribution rate const. in both dogs and goats. The elimination rate const. and, in turn, the half-life were not altered by the endotoxin-induced fever in either species. The vol. of distribution at steady-state was significantly lower in the febrile dogs and goats. The body clearance of imidocarb was also significantly lower in the febrile dogs and goats. The decreased apparent vol. of distribution and lower body clearance of imidocarb could explain the higher plasma values of the drug in the febrile, compared with normal, animals.
