A polyethylene [9002-88-4] molding product was colored with the pigment without deforming the dimensions of the molding. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 42 (Coatings, Inks, and Related Products) Section cross-reference(s): 40 Isoindolinone pigments (sp. surface area 60-150 m2/g) repptd. from H2SO4 were dissolved in an aq. base and acidified to give pigments with improved hiding power. For example, 50 g I [5590-18-1] (sp. surface area 20 m/g) was stirred with 500 g 98% H2SO4, poured into 2 kg iced water, and filtered to give a pigment paste (sp. surface area of dried pigment 75 m2/g) which was dispersed in 500 g water, treated with 150 g 10% aq. NaOH, heated during 1 h to 50-60°, and stirred with 5% HCl to give pigment sp. surface area 40 m2/g) with better hiding power than that before the conditioning, in a melamine-alkyd coating. Polyethylene [9002-88-4] and polypropylene [9003-07-0] films colored with the conditioned pigment showed lower directional shrinkage anomaly than when colored with the unconditioned pigment. .
