- Evaluation of mouse-plague control techniques in irrigated sunflower crops. Saunders, G. R. (New South Wales Dep. Agric., Sydney 2000, Australia). Crop Prot., 2(4), 437-45 (English) 1983. CODEN: CRPTD6. ISSN: 0261-2194. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Parathion [56-38-2], strychnine [57-24-9] and bromadiolone [28772-56-7] were evaluated for controlling mice in irrigated sunflower. Mark-recapture and census baiting, were used. Census baiting gave the most realistic appraisal of the efficacy of each poison; by this method the population redns. There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 28772-56-7 and 57-24-9 in this article. were estd. as 42, 63 and 90% resp. Bait was applied into the crop aerially at 5 kg/ha. .

- Effects of giving ethionine on the parathion-metabolizing enzymes in the liver of fasted calves. Boermans, Herman J.; Black, William D. (Ontario Vet. Coll., Univ. Guelph, Guelph, ON N1H 2W1, Can.). Am. J. Vet. Res., 44(12), 2364-5 (English) 1983. CODEN: AJVRAH. ISSN: 0002-9645. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) DL-Ethionine [67-21-0] (0. 311-45-5 and 67-21-0 which are cas registry numbers are also used here.87 g/kg) or saline soln. (equiv. vol.) was administered i.v. to 4-mo-old calves 12 h after the start of fasting. The calves were slaughtered at the end of the fasting period (60 h). The livers of the ethionine-treated calves were large, had a high lipid content, and were diffusely pale yellow on the cut surface. The livers of the saline-treated group were shrunken. In liver samples from calves of both groups, there was reduced parathion [56-38-2] and paraoxon [311-45-5] metab. In the ethionine-treated group, parathion desulfuration also was reduced. In all cases, the changes were greater in the ethionine-treated animals. Fasting of calves with saline soln. or ethionine treatment caused a lowering of the liver biotransformation of parathion and paraoxon. .
