DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) In healthy volunteers, infusion of 2-phenylalanyl-8-lysine-vasopressin (PLV) [56-59-7] (2.7 munit/kg/h) increased the esophaegeal sphincter pressure. High doses of PLV decreased the esophageal sphincter pressure while lower doses were ineffective. Doses of 10 munit PLV/kg/h caused severe stomach cramps and vasoconstriction with increased diastolic pressure. The significance of these results for treatment of esophageal varicose vein bleeding is discussed.
