Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by acetic acid 3,7-dimethyl-6-oxo-oct-2-enyl ester by heating. This reaction will need reagent SmI₂ and solvent tetrahydrofuran with the reaction time of 3 hours. This reaction will also need catalyst Pd(PPh₃)₄. The yield is about 62%.
