Two main components were isolated from the essential oil by using fractional distn. and column chromatog. on silica gel and were identified as limonene [138-86-3] 56.10 and perillaldehyde [2111-75-3] 34.10 % based on IR, NMR and MS spectra. Seven other components were isolated in small amts. and identified as n-propylbenzene [103-65-1], aromadendrene [72747-25-2], elemol [639-99-6], 1-keto-4-hydroxydecalin [21766-50-7], 1-cycloheptyl-1-methylethanol [16624-02-5], myrtenal [564-94-3] and eicosane [112-95-8].In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 89-82-7 and 20777-49-5 In addn., a-pinene [80-56-8], camphene [79-92-5], b-pinene [127-91-3], pulegone [89-82-7], perillyl alc. [536-59-4], dihydrocarveyl acetate [20777-49-5] and cis-carveyl acetate [1205-42-1] were also identified. .
