Obtained dodecane, 2-ethyl-4,4-dimethyl-2-oxazoline and butyllithium are reacted to give 2-(4,4-dimethyl-2-oxazolin-2-yl)-14-(tetrahydro-2-pyranyloxy)-tetradecan e which is esterified with sulfuric acid to give Et 2-methyl-14-hydroxytetradecanoate. Obtained tetradecanoate is protected to give Et 2-methyl-14-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)tetradecanoate, followed by redn. with lithium aluminum hydride to give 2-methyl-14-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)tetradecan-1-ol, tosylated by tosyl chloride, and underwent substitution reaction with sodium cyanide to give 3-methyl-15-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)pentadecane-1-nitrile. Obtained nitrile is treated with 1 N hydrochloric acid, hydrolyzed and mesylated to give 15-(methanesulfonyloxy)-3-methylpentadecanoic acid. The pentadecanoic acid is brominated, followed by reaction with thiourea and NaOH to give 15-mercapto-3-methyl-pentadecanoic acid.

I was mixed with DCC in EtOAc to yield [CH2:CMeCO2(CH2)12OP(O)(OH)]2O (II) [93289-89-5]. A 2-pack type primer was prepd. contg. bis-GMA 50, hydroxyethyl methacrylate 43 and II 7, and Bz2O2 2 parts. The 2nd formulation contained EtOH 100, Na benzenesulfinic and 3,N,N-dimethyl-p-toluidine 0.7 parts. The effectiveness of the adhesive was demonstrated.
