- Stability of phenylbutazone in presence of pharmaceutical colors
- Stability of phenylbutazone in presence of pharmaceutical colors. Baugh, Rosalind; Calvert, R. T.; Fell, J. T. (Pharm. Dep., Univ. Manchester, Manchester, Engl.). J. Pharm. Sci., 66(5), 733-5 (English) 1977. CODEN: JPMSAE. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) The degrdn. of phenylbutazone (I) [50-33-9] was studied in the presence of lakes suitable for coloring the sugar coats of I tablets. I was degraded, in light in the presence of FD and C Red lake No. 3 (erythrosine Na lake) [53026-61-2] at a rate increasing with lake concn., and was also degraded more slowly in a soln. of 0.0078% (wt./vol.) erythrosine Na [568-63-8]. The degrdn. probably proceeds via O generated by the light-excited dye. The degrdn. may be important in some quality control procedures and can lead, for example, to unusual results in dissoln. rate testing.

- Detection of deposits on surfaces of contact lenses. (Tokyo Contact Lens Research Institute, Japan). Jpn. Kokai Tokkyo Koho JP 58222155 A2 23 Dec 1983 Showa, 3 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: C09B057-14; G02C007-04; G02C013-00. APPLICATION: JP 82-103744 18 Jun 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Albumins and lysozyme monochloride [52219-07-5] excreted from tears and adhering to contact lens are detected with a dye, I [568-63-8]. 52219-07-5 and 16423-68-0 are also in the experiment. Thus, in a test system, albumins and lysozyme placed on a contact lens showed a red color when exposed to 0.5% I aq. soln. (pH 4-7). .
