DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 37 (Plastics Manufacture and Processing) The thermal oxidn. of carboxyl-terminated polybutadiene in the presence of antioxidants was studied by dynamic DTA. Bis-thioacetylacetonato nickel(II) compds. are effective in inhibiting the air oxidn. reaction in the polymer. The crosslinking reaction of the polymer through the double bonds present in the polymer mol. is desensitized by the antioxidants and the effect is more with N-phenyl-1-naphthylamine [90-30-2]. An exothermic peak formed at 270°C in the presence of MAPO [57-39-6] has been identified as the curing reaction. The IR spectra of CTPB in the presence of MAPO at various temps. confirm the various stages of reaction.

- Studies on the effect of two chemosterilants on Aedes caspius Pallas (Dipt., Culicidae). Hafez, M.; Aboul-Nasr, A. E.; Salama, H. S. (Fac. Sci., Cairo Univ., Cairo, Egypt). Z. Angew. Entomol., 86(1), 105-10 (English) 1978. CODEN: ZANEAE. ISSN: 0044-2240. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) In Aedes caspius Pallus larvae, tepa (I) [57-39-6] and metepa (II) [57-39-6] induced sterility in the emerging adults at 10 and 15 ppm, resp., whereas 5 and 10 ppm, resp. were ineffective. In adults, 0.005% I and 0.05% II in the food (sugar) induced sterility in both sexes although eggs were still laid. II-sterilized males competed successfully with normal males for virgin females, and complete sterility was achieved when the ratio of normal to treated males in the test cages was 1:10. The use of treated males in a male release program as a means of controlling this species was also discussed.
