(HPLC) with fluorescence detection. Catecholamines and isoproterenol added as an internal std. in 100 mL of urine, after chromatog. on a small column of CM-Sephadex C25, were converted into the corresponding fluorescent compds. by reaction with 1,2-diphenylethylenediamine [5700-60-7] in EtOH. These compds. were sepd. within 7 min. on a reversed-phase column with isocratic elution using aq. dioxane contg. a Tris-HCl buffer (pH 7.0). The detection limits for I, II, and III were 20, 30, and 40 fmol, resp., in a 50 mL injection vol., and the std. deviations were 3.2, 4.8, and 3.0%, resp.
