This chemical can be produced by the condensation of Benzoin and Anhydrous ether. This chemical is a photosensitizer. It can mainly used in printing industry to produce photosensitive resin plate, in the preparation of solvent, it can be used as a photosensitizer.

Preparation: this chemical can be prepared by diphenylethyne at ambient temperature. This reaction will also produce benzoic acid and diphenylethanedione. It will need reagent H₂O₂, catalyst MeReO₃ and solvent ethanol. The reaction time is 2 day(s). The yield is about 80%.

Uses of Benzoin Ethyl Ether: it can be used to produce 1,2-diphenyl-ethanone at heating. This reaction will need reagent TiCl₃, Zn and solvent 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane with reaction time of 4 hours. The yield is about 85%.
