O. The Ni-contg. cyclic compds. (NCCCs) in the trap was extd. with MeOH. The ext. was concd. to 2 mL of final vol. under reduced pressure at 20°. The NCCCs in the ext. were directly detd. by a high-performance liq. chromatog. (HPLC) equiped with an UV detector under the following conditions: column, Zorbax-SIL (6.2 ′ 250 mm); mobile phase, MeOH-H2O; flowrate, 1.2 mL/min; column temp., 53°; wavelength of UV detector, 254 and 230 nm. This HPLC procedure seps. 16 NCCCs, at limits of 2-20 ng at S/N = 2. Indole [120-72-9] and 9-acridone [578-95-0] occurred in the exhaust gas sample from a motor bike, and their concns. were 17 and 2.9 mg/m3, resp. The qual. anal. procedure of NCCCs by thin-layer chromatog. (TLC) are also described.
