DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) In the rat proximal tubule during stationary microperfusion, addn. of 5-valine-angiotension II [58-49-1] to the peritubular perfusion fluid had a biphasic action with stimulation of Na+ reabsorption at low dosses (10-12-10-10M) and inhibition at high doses (3 .times. 10-7-3 .times. 10-6M). Intraluminal angiotension at a dose of 10-9M also stimulated Na+ transport. No significant change in the transepithelial potential difference was obsd. for either high or low concns. of angiotension. The biphasic response to angiotension is discussed in relation to the control of tubulo-glomerular feedback.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Hormone Pharmacology) Physiol. concns. of angiotensin II (I) [58-49-1] increased corticosterone [50-22-6] and aldosterone [52-39-1] prodn. in zona glomerulosa cell suspensions with ED50 of 4 .times. 10-10 and 8 .times. 10-10M resp. 1-Sarcosine 8-alanine angiotensin II [11130-03-3] abolished the response to I. Increased K+ concn. stimulated corticosterone and aldosterone output. Serotonin [50-67-9] (10-9M) also increased corticosterone and aldosterone output, producing a max. response at .gtoreq.10-6M. The max. response to I was lower than that to K+ (6mM), serotonin (10-4M), or ACTH (10-8M). I (2 .times. 10-11-2 .times. 10-5M) did not stimulate steroid prodn. by zona fasciculata-reticularis cell suspensions, but I-amide [53-73-6] (>2 .times. 10-5M) increased corticosterone prodn. by these cells.
