DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Single i.p. doses of L-alanosine [5854-93-3] inhibited antibody prodn. to thymus-dependent and thymus-independent antigens as well as delayed hypersensitivity to sleep red blood cells in mice. The in vitro lymphoproliferative responses of splenocytes to concanavalin A and bacterial lipopolysaccharides were also affected when the drug was added upon setting up the cultures. On the other hand, in vivo treatment with L-alanosine did not impair spleen natural killer activity. The results are discussed in an effort to characterize the immunosuppressive activity of L-alanosine.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The antitumor action of L-alanosine [5854-93-3] was investigated in murine leukemia P388 (P388/S), P388 resistant to adriamycin [25316-40-9], (P388/ADR), P388 resistant to vincristine [57-22-7] (P388/VCR), and leukemia L5178Y sensitive to L-asparaginase [9015-68-3] (L5178Y/S). L-Alanosine demonstrated good antineoplastic activity against P388/S and P388/ADR, whereas it showed better anticancer activity against P388/VCR and L5178Y/S at the various dose levels employed.
