Multi-method for the determination of residues of chemotherapeutics, antiparasitics and growth promoters in foods of animal origin
Multi-method for the determination of residues of chemotherapeutics, antiparasitics and growth promoters in foods of animal origin. Part II. Determination of nitrofurans and nicarbazin (the dinitrocarbanilide component). Malisch, Rainer (Chem. Landesuntersuchungsanst., Offenburg D-7600, Fed. Rep. Ger.). Z. Lebensm.-Unters. Forsch., 183(4), 253-66 (German) 1986. CODEN: ZLUFAR. ISSN: 0044-3026. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Nitrofurans and dinitrocarbanilide [587-90-6] were extd. from food according to the multiresidue method (Malisch, R., 1986) and detected by reversed-phase-HPLC with UV detection at 360 nm. The UV spectra confirm the results qual.Several substances with their cas registry numbers 67-28-7 and 67-45-8 may be metioned in this study. Possibilities for further confirmation are discussed. Substances in amts. £0.01 mg/kg can only be detd. with particular care. Statistical confirmation of this method and possible problems are mentioned. An interlab. collaborative study confirmed the method: furazolidone [67-45-8], furaltadone [139-91-3], nitrofurazone [59-87-0], nitrofurantoin [67-20-9], and nicarbazin [330-95-0] (the dinitrocarbanilide component) were added to homogenized eggs in amts. of 0.0050-0.150 mg/kg. The procedure can be standardized as an official anal. method at a detection limit of 0.005 mg/kg for nitrofurans and 0.01 mg/kg for nicarbazin. .
Nicarbazin complex yields dinitrocarbanilide as ultrafine crystals with improved anticoccidial activity
Nicarbazin complex yields dinitrocarbanilide as ultrafine crystals with improved anticoccidial activity. Rogers, Edward F.; Brown, Ronald D.; Brown, Jeannette E.; Kazazis, Diana M.; Leanza, William J.; Nichols, John R.; Ostlind, Dan A.; Rodino, Toni M. (Merck Sharp Dohme Res. Lab., Rahway, NJ 07065, USA). Science (Washington, D. C., 1883-), 222(4624), 630-2 (English) 1983. CODEN: SCIEAS. ISSN: 0036-8075. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Nicarbazin [330-95-0], a drug used to control the protozoal disease coccidiosis in poultry, is a complex of the highly insol. drug 4,4'-dinitrocarbanilide [587-90-6] with 2-hydroxy-4,6-dmethylpyrimidine. The structure of this and other 4,4'-dinitrocarbanilide complexes have not been detd., but an analogous 2:1 complex of 4,4'-dinitrodiphenylamine with 1,4-diacetylpiperazine [88262-72-0] has been prepd. 587-90-6 and 330-95-0 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned. in which the only possible bonds are H bonds between the amide carbonyls and amino hydrogens. SEM revealed that micron-size crystals of nicarbazin disintegrate in water to form much smaller dinitrocarbanilide crystals. Similar complex dissoln. in the gut of poultry may account for the greater effectiveness of dinitrocarbanilide when administered as complexed rather than uncomplexed drug. Particle size problems assocd. with other highly insol. drugs and pesticides may be resolved by the use of nicarbazin-like complexes. .
