DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Foods) A high-pressure liq. chromatog. (HPLC) method is described for detg. ethopabate [59-06-3] in poultry feeds. Feed samples contg. ethopabate are finely ground, extd. 30 min by sonification with MeOH-H2O (), and filtered. The ext. is cleaned up on an alumina column, and the first 4 mL eluate collected is analyzed. The drug is eluted through a .mu.Bondapak C18 column with MeCN-H2O () at a flow rate of 1.4 mL/min and detected by UV absorption at 280 nm. Chromatog. is complete in 7 min, and detector response is linear. The drug is quantitated by peak height ratios. The procedure described is reproducible and shows good agreement with the official AOAC colorimetric method. The lower limit of detection is 2 ng by HPLC, making the method applicable to residue analyses.

Clopidol [2971-90-6], dinitolmide [148-01-6], pyrimethamine [58-14-0] and ethopabate [59-06-3] were eluted sep. on a Nucleosil 5C18 column with MeCN-HOAc-water, and detected at 228 nm. The limit of detection of each drug was 0.05 ppm in the tested samples. The av. recoveries of each drug added to chicken meat and eggs were >90%, resp. .
