Rabbits were the most resistant species to damage from complexing agents. Starvation increased the damage induced in the pancreas. Pretreatment with Na diethyldithiocarbamate [148-18-5], cysteine [52-90-4], or glutathione [70-18-8] decreased the ability of the complexons to bind Zn and thus damage the cells.
