Each disk (1 cm diam., 3 mm thick) was placed in 200 mL phosphate buffer and one of the polymer's degrdn. products, 1,6-hexanediol, was detd. by gas chromatog. The disks eroded at a zero-order rate of 3.52%/h with a lag time of 1.9 h. The polymer mixt. contg. no acidic catalyst did not measurably erode over the same time course. .
