(moxalactam [64952-97-2], cefamandole [34444-01-4], cefmetazole [56796-20-4], cefonicid [61270-58-4], cefmenoxime [65085-01-0], cefoperazone [62893-19-0], cefotiam [61622-34-2], ceforanide [60925-61-3]) each carrying an N-methyltetrazolethiol substituent in the 3-position of the dihydrothiazine ring of the parent antibiotic were capable of inducing a disulfiram-like reaction in mice after ingestion of EtOH [64-17-5]. Evidence is presented which strongly suggests a direct relationship between N-methyltetrazolethiol and related heterocyclic thiols and the ability to induce antabuse-like effects.
