DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 11, 25, 26, 28 The pharmacol. properties and chem. constituents of 9 Artemisia, 14 Salvia, 8 Schizandra, 9 Dioscorea, 9 Paeonia and 6 Pueraria species were investigated and their clin. application explored. E.g., Salvia contg. tanshinones and cryptotanshinone [35825-57-1] are antimicrobial, Schizandra contg. wuweizisu C [61301-33-5], g-schizandrin [61281-37-6], wuweizichun B [61281-39-8], schizandrin [552-66-9] and deoxyschizandrin [61281-38-7] show blood serum transaminase-lowering activity, and Pueraria contg. daidzein [486-66-8], daidzin [552-66-9], and puerarin [3681-99-0] are capable of stimulating blood circulation.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Wuweizisu C (I) [61301-33-5] dose-dependently reduced the CCl4-induced elevation of serum transaminase activity and histol. changes such as fatty degeneration, cell necrosis, inflammatory cell infiltration. A low dose of I lowered the rise of serum transaminase activity. Uridine markedly repaired the serum-biochem. and pathol. changes. I dose-dependently inhibited fatty degeneration and decrease of serum triglyceride induced by ethionine. Thus, I may prevent hepatocellular necrosis, fatty degeneration, and inflammatory cell infiltration.
