DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 28 (Heterocyclic Compounds (More Than One Hetero Atom)) Me 2-benzimidazolecarbamate (I, R = Me, R1 = R2 = R3 = H) was obtained in 60% yield by boiling thiourea with Me2SO4, cooling, adding ClCO2Me, adding base at -20.degree. to a pH 6-7, and boiling with o-(H2N)2C6H4; in 90% yield when PhCH2Cl was substituted for Me2SO4; and in 86% yield from Ca cyanamide ClCO2Me, and o-(H2N)2C6H4. Addnl. obtained were 50-87% I (R = Et, R1 = H, Me, Cl, R2 = H, Me, R3 = H, Me).Except for chemicals metioned above, 614-97-1 and 6306-71-4 are also used. .
