Thus, 100 g phenylphosphinic acid was heated to 120°, and 22 g paraformaldehyde was added in small portions and the mixt. heated 1 h at 140° to give I. Ethylene glycol (1 part) and 1.8 part terephthalic acid were heated at 235° and 2 kg/cm2 to give a precondensate. The precondensate (150 parts), 4.7 parts I, 0.04% H3PO4, and 0.04% Sb2O3 were heated to 270-280° while the pressure was decreased to <1 torr during 1.5 h, and the heating was continued 2 h under vacuum to give a linear polyester [88481-86-1] having limiting O index 29 vol.%. .
