N-acryloylpyrrolidine I with HOCH2CH2O2CCMe:CH2-H2C:CMeCO2CH2CH2O2CCMe:CH2 or with H2C:CHPh-H2C:CHC6H4CH:CH2, resp. PtCl2 was exchanged onto the polymer supports to give a catalyst for hydroformylation of H2C:CHPh in the presence of SnCl2 using H2-CO (1:1). Although branched to normal ratios were low (~0.5), 70% optical yields of (+)-PhCHMeCHO were obtained. These are the highest optical yields that have been achieved with a polymer-supported chiral catalyst. .
