- I. Spin trapping of photolysis products from sulfanilamide, 4-aminobenzoic acid, and related compounds. Chignell, Colin F.; Kalyanaraman, B.; Mason, Ronald P.; Sik, Robert H. (Lab. Environ. Biophys., Natl. Inst. Environ. Health Sci., Research Triangle Park, NC 27709, USA). Photochem. Photobiol., 32(5), 563-71 (English) 1980. CODEN: PHCBAP. ISSN: 0031-8655. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) UV photolysis of sulfanilamide [63-74-1] in aq. soln. yielded ·C6H4SO2NH2 [76890-77-2], PhSO2· [34014-44-3], ·SO2NH2 [62470-59-1], and SO3-· [12210-38-7] or SO2-· [12143-17-8], as detd. by spin trapping with 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane. 4-Aminobenzoic acid [150-13-0] yielded ·C6H4CO2H [65312-85-8]. Both also generated aq. electrons of H atoms; this was not obsd. with 4-dimethylaminobenzoic acid [619-84-1]. Photolysis of 4-iodobenzenesulfonamide [825-86-5] and 4-nitrobenzenesulfonamide [6325-93-5] also yielded ·C6H4SO2NH2, and ·C6H4CO2H was generated from 4-nitrobenzoic acid [62-23-7] and 4-iodobenzoic acid [619-58-9]. ·C6H4NO2 [2395-99-5] was formed by 4-nitroaniline [100-01-6], 1,4-dinitrobenzene [100-25-4], and 4-iodonitrobenzene [636-98-6] irradn. The radicals generated from sulfonilamide and 4-aminobenzoic acid may play a role in the phototoxic and photoallergic response sometimes elicited by these drugs.

CODEN: PIXXD2.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 619-58-9 and 15715-08-9 are used here. CLASS: ICM: A61K051-04. APPLICATION: WO 1995-US9147 17 Jul 1995. PRIORITY: US 1995-426366 21 Apr 1995. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 8 (Radiation Biochemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 25 A class of compds. having affinity for certain cancer cells, e.g. lung carcinomas, colon carcinomas, renal carcinomas, prostate carcinomas, breast carcinomas, malignant melanomas, gliomas, neuroblastomas and pheochromocytomas, is disclosed. The compds. of the invention can also bind with high specificity to cell surface sigma receptors and can therefore be used for diagnostic imaging of any tissue having an abundance of cells with sigma receptors. The invention provides such compds. as agents for diagnostic imaging and for detecting and treating tumors contg. the cancer cells described above. .
