DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 76 (Electric Phenomena) Section cross-reference(s): 75, 77 The nonstoichiometric perovskite Pr1-xPbxMnO3-y compds. have been synthesized by a std. combustion technique.Some commonly used reagents like 301-04-2 and 6192-12-7 are used in this experiment. The samples show single phase solid solns. The mixed valency of Mn ions was identified by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and the amt. of Mn4+ ions was detd. by the iodometric titrn. method. The nonstoichiometric chem. formulas of the Pr1-xPbxMn1-r3+Mnr4+O3-y compds. have been formulated. The Pr1-xPbxMnO3-y (x=0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) compds. show a transition from the ferromagnetic state to the paramagnetic state. The transport properties have been studied by elec. cond. measurements under magnetic fields of 0 G and 3 kG. The magnetoresistant ratio increased with decreasing Mn-O distance. The magnetoresistant ratio is neg. for all the samples. .
