The results were also confirmed by UV spectroscopy. The ability of the dienone system to assume conformation with out-of-plane C3 = 03 and (or) C9 = C10 bonds allows the AB fragment of the steroid mol. to adopt conformations requited for receptor interaction. This property may account for the increase in several hormone activities on such modifications of steroids. .
