Degradation of organic sulfur compounds by a coal-solubilizing fungus
Degradation of organic sulfur compounds by a coal-solubilizing fungus. Faison, B. D.; Clark, T. M.; Lewis, S. N.; Ma, C. Y.; Sharkey, D. M.; Woodward, C. A. (Oak Ridge Natl. Lab., Oak Ridge, TN 37831-6194, USA). Appl. Biochem. Biotechnol., 28-29, 237-51 (English) 1991. CODEN: ABIBDL. ISSN: 0273-2289. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 10 (Microbial, Algal, and Fungal Biochemistry) Paecilomyces sp. 132-65-0 and 622-38-8 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. TLi, a coal-solubilizing fungus, was shown to degrade org. sulfur-contg. coal substructure compds. Dibenzothiophene was degraded via a sulfur-oxidizing pathway to 2,2'-dihydroxyphenyl. No further metab. of that compd. was obsd. Et Ph sulfide and di-Ph sulfide were degraded to the corresponding sulfones. A variety of products were formed from dibenzyl sulfide, presumably via free radical intermediates. Di-Ph disulfide and dibenzyl disulfide were cleaved to the corresponding thiols and other single-ring products. It was concluded that degrdn. of org. sulfur compds. by Paecilomyces involves an oxidative attack localized at the sulfur atom. .
Rotational isomers of phenylalkyl sulfides
Rotational isomers of phenylalkyl sulfides. Dolenko, G. N.; Litvin, A. L.; Elin, V. P. (Irkutsk. Inst.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 3019-20-3 and 622-38-8 are used here. Org. Khim., Irkutsk, USSR). Zh. Strukt. Khim., 32(6), 61-6 (Russian) 1991. CODEN: ZSTKAI. ISSN: 0136-7463. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 65 (General Physical Chemistry) Section cross-reference(s): 22 The rotational isomers and conformations are considered of the sulfides PhSMe (I), PhSEt (II), PSPri (III), and PhSBu+ (IV) by x-ray fluorescence (Kb-spectra of S) and semiempirical quantum chem. methods. .
