DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) Bovine thymosin a1 [62304-98-7] (10-9-3 ′ 10-7M) inhibited the specific binding of 125I-labeled VIP [37221-79-7] to rat blood mononuclear cells and liver plasma membranes.There are some commonly used reagents with their cas registry numbers 10-10-1 and 37221-79-7 in this article. Thymosin a1 was 160 and 6250 times less potent that VIP at inhibiting 125I-VIP binding to blood mononuclear cells and liver plasma membranes, resp. Thymosin a1 (10-10-10-7M) was weak in stimulating adenylate cyclase [9012-42-4] activity. Its efficacy is ~25% and 27% that of native VIP in blood mononuclear cells and liver plasma membranes, resp. Thymosin a1 may behave as a partial VIP agonist in rat. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 2 (Mammalian Hormones) The effects of thymosin-a1 [62304-98-7] on PGE2 [363-24-6] release by lymphocytes obtained from adult thymectomized (Tx) mice and from normal mice were studied. Splenocytes from Tx mice release PGE2 on brief incubation (15 min) with 4 mg/mL of thymosin-a1 and on longer incubation (60-180 min) with 4-8 mg/mL of thymosin-a1. On the other hand, thymocytes release the highest amts. of PGE2 after longer incubation (60-180 min). However, lymphocytes obtained from normal mice do not release PGE2. This effect shows an interesting interaction between thymic hormones and prostaglandins.
