DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Easily administrable, pleasant tasting oral prepns. for the treatment of psoriasis comprised aq. solns. of a neutral or acidic fumaric acid [110-17-8] salt, a mono- or diester of fumaric acid or their salts, esp. the Mn salt, either alone or in combination with acidic alkali salts of tartaric [87-69-4], citric [77-92-9] or ascorbic acid [50-81-7]; MgSO4; vitamin A acid; and sugars. For example, 100 parts finely ground fumaric acid was mixed with 100 parts pulverized dimethyl fumarate [624-49-7]. Two parts of this mixt. was dild. with 50 parts of a powder diluent contg. 192 parts tartaric acid, 30 parts citric acid, 220 parts anhyd. MgSO4, 210 parts NaHCO3, and 342 parts sugar. The mixt. was stored in an air- and watertight glass container. A daily dose comprised one teaspoon of the mixt. to be mixed with 1/4 to 1/2 glass of water and drunk before breakfast.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 17 (Food and Feed Chemistry) Nine batches of tortilla contg. 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 g of calcium propionate [4075-81-4] or dimethyl fumarate [624-49-7]/100 g corn flour were prepd. The tortillas were individually packaged in polyethylene bags, stored at room temp., and obsd. daily for visible signs of mold growth. Samples from each batch were also subjected to the detn. of moisture and water activity. The mold-free shelf-lives of tortillas contg. calcium propionate ranged 2-5 days and those of tortillas contg. di-Me fumarate ranged 2-11 days.
