In vivo combination effects of astromicin and b-lactam antibiotics against Pseudomonas aeruginosa
In vivo combination effects of astromicin and b-lactam antibiotics against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Sato, Kiyoshi; Yamashita, Kinya; Okachi, Ryo (Pharm. Res. Lab., Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co., Ltd., Shizuoka 411, Japan). Jpn. J. Antibiot., 39(6), 1487-93 (Japanese) 1986. CODEN: JJANAX. ISSN: 0368-2781. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 10 The in vivo combination efficacies of astromicin (I) [55779-06-1], a pseudodisaccharide aminoglycoside antibiotic, and b-lactam antibiotics latamoxef (II) [64952-97-2], cefoperazone (III) [62893-19-0], piperacillin (IV) [61477-96-1] and cefsulodin (V) [62587-73-9] against exptl. infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa were evaluated in both normal and immunosuppressed mice. In normal mice, the combination of I with these b-lactam antibiotics produced significantly greater protective effects than the single use of individual antibiotics against both strains of P. aeruginosa BMH No. 1 and E-2. In mice immunosuppressed with cyclophosphamide [50-18-0], the combination of I with II or V also exhibited synergistic protective effects against P. aeruginosa BMH No. 1, but IV and III did not. 62893-19-0 and 61477-96-1 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. Thus, the combination therapy of I with b-lactam antibiotics appears to be effective against exptl. infections with P. aeruginosa in mice. .
Effects of antibiotics on the in vitro ERG (II)
Effects of antibiotics on the in vitro ERG (II). Investigation of cephalosporins on the albino rabbit eye-cup. Ohnogi, Junji (Sch. Med., Kanazawa Univ., Kanazawa 920, Japan). Juzen Igakkai Zasshi, 95(3), 481-90 (Japanese) 1986. CODEN: JUZIAG. ISSN: 0022-7226. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The effects of cefazolin (CEZ) [25953-19-9] and cefsulodin (CFS) [62587-73-9] on the retina of the albino rabbit were studied. The in vitro electroretinogram (ERG) was used as an indicator of the retinal activity. The electroretinog. components studied included the a-wave, b-wave, oscillatory potentials (OPs) and c-wave. The b-wave and OPs were unchanged by 0.1 mM CEZ. The OPs were slightly suppressed by 0.3 mM CEZ. CEZ of 1.0 mM did not deteriorate the a- and c-waves, but slightly enhanced the b-wave and selectively suppressed the OPs. The b-wave, OPs and c-wave were unchanged by 0.1 mM CFS. The OPs were slightly suppressed by 0.3 mM CFS. CFS of 1.0 mM did not deteriorate the a-wave, but slightly enhanced the b-wave and selectively suppressed the OPs. The above-described changes in the ERG were reversible. The effects of CEZ and CFS on the ERG were characterized by the selective suppression of the OPs. The min. concn. affecting the ERG was tentatively defined as the mean of the min. concn. needed to change the ERG and the max. concn. which did not induce discernible changes in the ERG. The min. concn. affecting the ERG for CEZ or CFS was 0.2 mM. The min. concn. affecting the ERG for CEZ (0.2 mM, approx. 95 mg/mL) was higher than its min. inhibitory concn. against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. The min. concn. affecting the ERG for CFS (0.2 mM, approx. 111 mg/mL) was higher than its min. inhibitory concn. against Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas.Except for chemicals metioned above, 11111-12-9 and 25953-19-9 are also used. .
