DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 39 (Textiles) Treatment of wool with tetrabromophthalic anhydride [632-79-1] in a 2-solvent system consisting of CH2Cl2 [75-09-2] as a temporary diluent and DMF [68-12-2] produces a flame-retardant fabric that can be dry cleaned and laundered without significant loss of its flame resistance. The low-boiling CH2Cl2 can be recycled and permits uniform treatment with only small amts. of the active but difficult-to-recover high-boiling solvent DMF.

Polyurethane foams prepd. using 10-20% I as part of the polyol ingredient were self-extinguishing in the ASTM D 1692-67T flame test.
