The short half-life (6 h) of 99mTc and the high yield of high-energy radiation, which permits use of low doses, combine to minimize the radiation exposure of the patient. The 99mTc complex is prepd. immediately before administration by redn. of Na99mTcO4 with Sn2+. For example, the complex prepd. from (2,6-diethylacetanilido)iminodiacetic acid (II) [63245-28-3], SnCl2, and Na99mTcO4 was cleared from the circulation of baboons twice as rapidly as a comprable dose of rose bengal-131I. The concn. of the II-99mTc complex in the bile was 4 times that of rose bengal-131I 30 min after administration. The complex was excreted slowly in the urine. The acids were prepd. by reaction of the corresponding arom. amine with chloroacetyl chloride [79-04-9], followed by iminodiacetic acid [142-73-4].
