DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 41 (Dyes, Organic Pigments, Fluorescent Brighteners, and Photographic Sensitizers) The title dyes are represented by general structure I, where R = R1 or R2 (R3 = H, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy; m and n = 1 or 2; p = 0 or 1; n + p = 2 or 3), R4 = C1-4 alkyl or (if R = R2) H, R5 = C1-4 alkyl, and R6 = F, Cl, or Br. I are esp. useful as light- and wetfast yellow-orange to scarlet dyes for cellulosic fibers and leather. Thus, diazotization of 2-H2NC10H4(SO3H)3-3,6,8 [118-03-6], coupling with 6,1-AcNH(HO)C10H5SO3H-3 [6334-97-0], deacetylation, reaction of the amino azo intermediate [88452-60-2] with cyanuric chloride [108-77-0], and final treatment with N-methylaniline [100-61-8] gave the tetra-Na salt [71257-81-3] of I (R = 3,6,8-trisulfo-2-naphthyl, R4 = H, R5 = Me, R6 = Cl), a scarlet dye for cotton. .
