DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 37 (Plastics Fabrication and Uses) Polyurethane leather substitutes having a uniform color were prepd. by coating the leather substitutes with a urethane rubber contg. Kayanol Milling Brown 4GW (I) [6373-79-1] to form an easily dyeable layer, immersing in water, and dyeing with Lauryl Red GG (metal complex dye) (II) [12239-05-3] or Irgalan Navy Blue 2 Gl [61723-98-6]. I was used to indicate the uniformity of dyeing. Thus, a soln. of 8% 1,4-butanediol-diphenylmethane 4,4'-diisocyanate-polybutylene adipate glycol copolymer [26375-23-5] elastomer and 2% Ti oxide in DMF-dioxane was coated on a polyethylene sheet to form a film and bonded to a raised polyester fabric with a polyurethane adhesive to form a substrate. The substrate was coated uniformly with a soln. of 7.5% diphenylmethane 4,4'-diisocyanate-ethylene glycol-polyethylene glycol copolymer [39385-58-5] elastomer and 0.45% I in DMF-THF-cyclohexanone, immersed in water at 65.degree. for 26 min, and dyed with 3% II at bath ratio 100 and 65.degree. for 16 min to prep. a leather substitute.
