Ph3SnCl was more potent as an inhibitor of superoxide prodn. than other phenyltin compds. The superoxide prodn. by the xanthine oxidase-acetaldehyde system was not inhibited by Ph3SnCl. Thus, Ph3SnCl does not itself react with superoxide. Furthermore, Ph3SnCl did not influence the isolated NADPH oxidase [9032-22-8] at all, though prodn. of neutrophils stimulated with PMA in the presence of Ph3SnCl was inhibited. Ph3SnCl inhibits the activation process of the superoxide generating system. .
