E. M.; Maher Ali, A.; El-Kifl, A. H. (Inst. Pflanzenkr., Univ. Bonn, Bonn, Ger.). Meded. Fac. Landbouwwet., Rijksuniv. Gent, 42(2, Pt. 2), 1289-301 (English) 1977. CODEN: MFLRA3. ISSN: 0368-9697. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) S. littoralis exposed to Sumithion (I) [122-14-5] pressure in the lab., developed within 5 generations a 20-fold resistance at the LD50 level. Fluctuations in sensitivity, with occasional reversions, were shown in the response to insecticides of 15 S. littoralis generations, reared in the absence of chem pressure. The insecticides tested were: I, parathion [56-38-2], Dipterex [52-68-6], Hydrol [6392-46-7], Zectran [315-18-4], and Lannate [16752-77-5].

CODEN: MFLRA3. ISSN: 0368-9697. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) In a 15-generation study, Sumithion [122-14-5]-resistant S. littoralis showed cross-resistance to dimethoxy organophosphorus insecticides (malathion [121-75-5], Dipterex [52-68-6], and Me parathion [298-00-0]), but only little cross-resistance to diethoxy insecticides (cyolane [947-02-4] and parathion [56-38-2]). Cross-resistance was also shown to the carbamate insecticides Sevin [63-25-2], Furadan [1563-66-2], Hydrol [6392-46-7], Matacil [2032-59-9], Zectran [315-18-4], and Temik [116-06-3], but not to Lannate [16752-77-5] and MeSCMe:NOC(O)NH2 [16960-39-7]. The last compd., as well as cyolane and parathion, showed the highest toxicity to a control strain.
