DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) The influence of the nature and concn. of various metallic catalysts (in oxide or salt form) on the rate of polymn. of bis(hydroxyethyl) terephthalate [6422-86-2] to poly(ethylene terephthalate) [25038-59-9] was investigated, and the order of decreasing catalytic influence was: Ti > Sn > Sb > Mn > Zn > Pb. The effect of reaction temp. was also discussed.

In addn. to the above phthalate esters, the properties of PVC plasticized with diisooctyl phthalate [27554-26-3], di(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate [6422-86-2], and diisoheptyl phthalate [41451-28-9] are presented for comparison and discussed.
