I (R1 = Cl, R2 = H, R3 = Me, R4 = Et) (II). The latter at 20 g/ha preemergence increased 130% mass of corn and 125% of cucumber plants, vs. 101 and 95%, resp., for gibberellin as a ref. I have little effect on weeds; e.g., II.Et2NCH2CH2OH under identical test conditions increased 105% the mass of Chenopodium album and had no effect on Setaria. Seventeen I were prepd. and converted to their Na, K, and HOCH2CH2NEt2 salts. .
