Effect of terpene mixture Rowachol on biliary lipid secretion, intestinal cholesterol absorption and serum lipids in subjects
Effect of terpene mixture Rowachol on biliary lipid secretion, intestinal cholesterol absorption and serum lipids in subjects. Leiss, O.; Bergmann, K. (Med. Klin., Univ. Bonn, Bonn, Fed. Rep. Ger.). Verh. Dtsch. Ges. Inn. Med., 89, 668-72 (German) 1983.Except for chemicals metioned above, 65546-74-9 is also used. CODEN: VDGIA2. ISSN: 0070-4067. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Rowachol [65546-74-9] (3 ′ 2 capsules daily) administered for 4 wk to healthy volunteers increased biliary secretion of cholesterol [57-88-5], phospholipids, and bile acids, but had no effect on the intestinal absorption of cholesterol or on the molar ratio of cholesterol, phospholipids, and bile acids in the gallbladder when compared to that obsd. in untreated controls. The molar concn. ratio of the individual bile acids was not changed as a result of Rowachol administration, the only exception being an increase in lithocholic acid [434-13-9]. Rowachol administration for 4 wk to normolipidemic volunteers decreased the total serum lipids and cholesterol concns. by ~16%, phospholipids by ~18% and triglycerides by 25%, but slightly increased high-d. lipoprotein cholesterol with respect to values obsd. in untreated controls. These results with Rowachol are discussed in terms of its litholytic activity. .
