- Seasonings and their uses for foods. Akatsuka, Shinichiro; Oka, Satoru (Eisai Co., Ltd., Japan). Japan. Kokai JP 53044664 21 Apr 1978 Showa, 5 pp. (Japanese). (Japan). CODEN: JKXXAF. CLASS: IC: A23L001-226. APPLICATION: JP 76-118493 4 Oct 1976. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 17 (Foods) Seasonings are prepd. with a glucosamine-contg. material, combined with Na glutamate, protein hydrolyzate, or a nucleic acid related compd. For example, 5 kg crab shells was crushed, mixed with 2 L of 6 N HCl, and residual chitin [1398-61-4] was washed with water and dried. The chitin (200 g) was again crushed, mixed with 2 L of 9N HCl, and hydrolyzed at 100° for 1 h. The hydrlyzate was filtered, evapd. to dryness, and dissolved in 200 mL water. The soln. was decolorized with actived C, adjusted to pH 7.0, and filtered to obtain a seasoning contg. ~180 g glucosamine-HCl [66-84-2]. The seasoning was applied to doughnut, hamburger, meat ball, or meat soup.
- Effects of D-glucosamine and D-mannose on the DNA, RNA and protein contents and on the nucleotide levels of sarcoma 180, in vivo
- Effects of D-glucosamine and D-mannose on the DNA, RNA and protein contents and on the nucleotide levels of sarcoma 180, in vivo. Tesoriere, G.; Calvaruso, G.; Vento, R.; Castagnetta, L. (Inst. Biol. Chem., Univ. Palermo, Palermo, Italy). Biochem. Exp. Biol., 12(4), 419-26 (English) 1976. CODEN: BEXBBO. ISSN: 0366-0060. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Daily i.m. administration of 1.8 g D-glucosamine-HCl [66-84-2]/kg for 2 wk to mice bearing sarcoma 180 tumors, decreased the tumor DNA content by 8.8%, but had no effect on the RNA, protein, and nucleotide pool levels. When the same dose of glucosamine-HCl was given in divided form (3 fractions injected at 4 h intervals), the tumor DNA level decreased by 20.9% and the RNA level by 5%; levels of ATP [56-65-5] and UTP [63-39-8] were also decreased. Combined administration of D-mannose [3458-28-4] (0.5 mg/kg) and glucosamine-HCl (0.6 mg/kg) for 2 wk decreased tumor DNA by 28.3% and RNA by 11.4%; a marked decrease in both ATP and UTP levels was also obsd. Neither drug showed any toxic effects on liver, kidney, and brain. The results are discussed in relation to the antitumor activity of these drugs.
