Larvicidal factors contributing to host-plant resistance against sunflower moth
Larvicidal factors contributing to host-plant resistance against sunflower moth. Waiss, A. C., Jr.; Chan, B. G.; Elliger, C. A.; Garrett, V. H.; Carlson, E. C.; Beard, B. (WRRC, ARS, Berkeley, Calif., USA). Naturwissenschaften, 64(6), 341 (English) 1977. CODEN: NATWAY. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemicals) Section cross-reference(s): 11 The florets of a sunflower (Helianthus annus) cultivar resistant to the sunflower moth (Homoeosoma electellum) contained .gtoreq.5% trachyloban-19-oic acid (I) [26263-39-8] plus (-)-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid (II) [6730-83-2] , which H. H. Sorey and R. H. Hale (1965) showed to be lethal for the caterpillars at 5%. An artificial diet contg. 0.5-1% I plus II halved the larval wt. of H. electellum.
Influence of the bioregulator tetcyclacis (BAS 106 W) on gibberellin biosynthesis and the hormonal status of plants
Influence of the bioregulator tetcyclacis (BAS 106 W) on gibberellin biosynthesis and the hormonal status of plants. Rademacher, Wilhelm; Jung, Johannes; Hildebrandt, Erika; Graebe, Jan E. (BASF Agric. Res. Cent., Limburgerhof D-6703, Fed. Rep. Ger.). Proc. Plant Growth Regul. Soc. Am., 10th, 36-41 (English) 1983. CODEN: PPGRDG. ISSN: 0731-1664. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) BAS 106 (I) [65245-23-0] W inhibits cell-free gibberellin biosynthesis by blocking the oxidative reactions from ent-kaurene [562-28-7] to ent-kaurenoic acid [6730-83-2]. Gibberellin prodn. by the fungi Gibberella fujikuroi and Sphaceloma manihoticola is also inhibited by I. Preliminary data from rice and maize seedlings indicate a lowered gibberellin content after treatment with I. Apparently, the growth-retarding effect of I is due to a lowered content of endogenous gibberellins in the treated plants.
